Lydiard Millicent Heating Engineer for the Village and Lydiard Park Side

A little. Homes here are more spread out than in central Swindon, and some are set back from the road or share a private lane. Clear directions, a what3words location or a description of the entrance helps me find you without phoning on the way.

Not necessarily. Rural villages can have a mix of heating fuels, especially on older or more isolated properties. My boiler and gas engineer work is on gas systems, so tell me how your home is heated and I can say whether the job is one for me.

Usually. Older rural homes often have larger rooms, solid walls and heating that has been extended over time, while newer infill housing tends to have a compact combi. The first may raise questions about sizing a replacement, the second is more often routine servicing.

Yes. Lydiard Millicent sits close to Lydiard Park, the historic house and country park on the western edge of Swindon, and is about 7 miles from my Highworth base. I cover the village and its surrounding rural homes for all five services.

Yes, both villages are in the SN5 postcode district and both are within my area. Haydon Wick and Royal Wootton Bassett are also close by. Give your full postcode when you get in touch so I know exactly where the job is.

In larger or spread-out houses the pipe from the boiler or cylinder to a distant tap can be long, so cold water sitting in it has to run off first. Uninsulated pipes in cold spaces make it worse. Insulating pipework or a pipework repair can help, depending on the layout.

Yes. Manufacturers generally recommend a yearly service for gas boilers, including newer ones, to keep them running efficiently and to pick up wear early. Note when the boiler was fitted and its make and model when you get in touch.

Yes, plumbing covers dripping taps and pipework repairs. Outside taps on exposed rural properties are prone to frost damage, so a leak often appears after a cold spell. If there is an isolating valve on the pipe indoors, turn it off until the tap is repaired.

Yes, please do. If there is a gate code, a cattle grid, a soft verge to avoid or a long drive where the van should stop, put it in your message. It saves time on the day and keeps the visit focused on the job.

Close doors to keep heat in the rooms you use, run portable electric heaters safely away from furnishings and keep curtains drawn after dark. Then call the number on this site and describe what the boiler is doing, including any fault code, so I can plan the repair.
