Haydon Wick Boiler Servicing for Swindon's Newer North-West Estates

Book a yearly service, keep an eye on the pressure gauge, which usually sits around 1 to 1.5 bar when cold, and run the heating briefly in summer to keep the pump moving. In hard frosts, watch for a frozen condensate pipe outside.

Yes. Haydon Wick is in SN25 on the north-west edge of Swindon, about 5 miles from my Highworth base. I cover it for boiler servicing, boiler breakdown, boiler installation, gas engineer work and plumbing.

Yes, dripping taps are part of my plumbing service. Modern mixer taps often use ceramic cartridges rather than washers, so the fix depends on the tap. A photo of the tap and, if you have it, the brand name help me understand what is needed.

There is no fixed age. Consider it when breakdowns become frequent, parts get harder to find or the boiler struggles to keep up with hot water. If it is still reliable, servicing it may be the better choice for now. I can talk through both options.

A combi heats water as it flows, so its output is shared between all the open outlets. Running a shower and a kitchen tap together splits that flow and can drop the temperature. It is a limit of the design rather than a fault, unless it has recently got worse.

Yes. Lydiard Millicent, Blunsdon and Purton are all nearby, and each has its own page on this site. I also cover the rest of North Swindon and the wider area around my Highworth base.

Not usually, though a service needs room around the casing and the pipework underneath. Clear the cupboard shelves and anything stored around the boiler before the visit. If the cupboard is especially tight, mention it when you book.

Yes, bathroom plumbing is part of my plumbing service. A leak can come from a worn shower seal, a failed tray joint or the pipework behind the wall, and each needs a different fix. Tell me where the water appears, such as a ceiling stain below.

Generally, but not entirely. Modern homes avoid many problems of old pipework, yet push-fit joints, compression fittings and flexible tap connectors can still weep, and a house settling in its early years can disturb a joint. Small leaks are worth sorting early.

Yes, central heating systems use a chemical inhibitor to slow internal corrosion and sludge. Its concentration drops if the system is drained or frequently topped up with fresh water. If you have been re-pressurising often, mention it when you book a service.
