Chiseldon Gas and Heating Engineer, Close to Junction 15

Yes. Chiseldon's position near Junction 15 of the M4 makes it a straightforward run of about 8 miles from my Highworth base, for both planned boiler servicing and breakdown visits.

Yes. Chiseldon sits on the Ridgeway National Trail, and its older cottages can have small boiler spaces, older radiators and pipework that has been changed over time. Tell me how old the cottage is and where the boiler is, and I can advise on servicing or repair.

Newer housing near the motorway usually has a combi or system boiler. A yearly service keeps it running efficiently, and plumbing jobs tend to be leaking fittings or dripping taps rather than old pipework. Note the boiler make and model when you get in touch.

The village was home to a large WWI-era army camp, and today it mixes older cottages with more recent housing. That spread of ages means heating systems vary a lot from one home to the next, so tell me roughly when your house was built.

One reset, following the manufacturer's instructions, is reasonable. If the fault returns or the boiler locks out again, stop resetting it and call the number on this site with the code shown. Repeated lockouts point to a fault that needs looking at.

On a combi, a sticking diverter valve is a frequent cause. On a system with a cylinder, it can be the programmer settings, a motorised valve or the cylinder thermostat. Tell me which type of system you have in your Chiseldon home and what the boiler display shows.

That is usually water hammer, where fast-moving water stops suddenly and shakes loose pipework. Loose pipe clips, high mains pressure or a worn valve can all contribute. It is a plumbing job worth sorting, as the movement can eventually loosen joints.

Yes. Chiseldon is in SN4 alongside Wroughton, while Coate and Old Town Swindon, both close by, are in SN3. I cover all of them, so just give your full postcode when you get in touch.

Clear the space around the boiler and any cupboard it sits in, and make sure the gas meter can be reached. If the boiler is in a loft or a tight cupboard, mention it when you book. Keeping pets in another room helps too.

They can. Thermostatic radiator valves let you set each room to a different temperature, which suits homes where some rooms are used far less than others. They work alongside a main thermostat rather than replacing it. Ask about them when you get in touch.
