Wroughton Gas and Heating Engineer, from the Old Airfield to the Ridgeway Edge

Wroughton's elevated position near the Ridgeway means many homes have older heating systems that face colder, more exposed conditions. An older boiler that has been struggling is more likely to give up in a cold snap, so an autumn service is a sensible way to spot problems early.

About 8 miles, across the south side of Swindon. Old Town Swindon and Coate sit between my base and the village, and I cover those too, so Wroughton is well within the area I travel to for all five services.

Yes. The newer homes on the village edges usually have combi boilers that suit yearly servicing and straightforward repairs. If yours is a recent build, include the boiler make and model and roughly when it was fitted when you get in touch.

Yes. Older cottages in the village often run a regular boiler with a hot water cylinder and loft tanks rather than a combi. Tell me what you have and any problems you have noticed, and I can look at a service, a repair or whether replacement makes sense.

Yes. Homes in the village next to the former airfield, now used by the Science Museum Group, are within my SN4 coverage. Send your postcode and a short description of the heating, gas or plumbing job, and I will reply about the next steps.

Leaking pipes, dripping taps, bathroom plumbing and pipework repairs all come up. In older cottages pipes can be harder to reach behind boxing or under floors, while newer homes tend to have more accessible runs. A photo of the leak or fitting helps me understand the job.

A radiator that is cold at the top and warm at the bottom usually has trapped air, which bleeding the radiator releases. If it is cold at the bottom instead, or the air keeps coming back, there may be sludge or a circulation fault, which is worth having looked at.

Condensing boilers drain water through a plastic condensate pipe, often running outside. On exposed, higher ground it can freeze in a hard frost and lock the boiler out. Pouring warm, not boiling, water along the outside section often clears it, then reset the boiler. If not, call me.

Often, but it depends on your mains water pressure and flow, how many bathrooms you have and how much hot water you use at once. A combi suits smaller households well, while a larger home may be better with a system boiler and cylinder. These are worth weighing up before choosing.

Either one. Both villages are in SN4 and both are about 8 miles from my Highworth base, so I cover them in the same way. Just give your full postcode and a short description of the job when you get in touch.
